Storytelling Beyond Words: Grand Rapids Ballet & Green NV

Selected date

Thursday October 24

Selected time

6:00 PM  –  9:00 PM

Join GRAM alongside a diverse collection of community partners as we explore how wordless storytelling occurs through different forms of creativity and self-expression. In these interactive conversations, participants will learn from local experts and experience how seemingly disparate art forms share commonalities.

On October 24, meet Nathan Veeneman, owner and lead designer at GREEN WITH NV, which creates custom floral and plant designs for homes, weddings, and events. For his presentation, Veeneman will be creating two large floral arrangements, each of which will tell a different story through use of color and flower placement.

Grand Rapids Ballet is Michigan’s only professional ballet company and presents five programs a year, including the annual holiday tradition “The Nutcracker” at DeVos Hall with the Grand Rapids Symphony. The company presents ballet in a wide range of styles, from classical to contemporary, traditional to experimental. Hear from artistic director James Sofranko about what “storytelling without words” means in the context of dance, and see company dancers demonstrate live, with excerpts from the most recent program “Firebird,” which runs October 18-25th.
