Adult Workshop: Wire Drawings

This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday June 23

12:30 PM  –  3:30 PM

Is it a drawing or a sculpture? Why not both? Many artists made contour line drawings on paper, but Alexander Calder was the first to use wire to create three-dimensional line "drawings" of people, animals, and objects. These "linear sculptures" introduced line into sculpture as an element unto itself. Explore drawing as a three-dimensional process by manipulating wire to capture the movement and personality of a person or object. Begin by practicing some continuous line drawings before translating one of these drawings into a wire sculpture.

No experience is necessary–just an open mind and a willingness to try something new. In GRAM Studio, we focus on the process, not the product, and encourage guests to explore their creativity. All supplies are provided. For more information, please contact Crystal Chesnik at 616.831.2927 or gramstudio@artmuseumgr.org.

Open to ages 16+. Registration is required. This workshop has a maximum of 30 participants, so sign up today.
