Join us for a discussion of Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer. In this book, Kimmerer explores the natural world through a dual lens of scientific study and as a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, embracing the notion that nature is our oldest teacher. A chapter in the book explores the tradition of Black Ash basket weaver John Pigeon, a relative of the two artists featured in our exhibition An Interwoven Legacy: The Black Ash Basketry of Kelly Church and Cherish Parrish.
